Pros of of Marrakech Outsite

The Staff

Hassan and the staff at Outsite Marrakech are extremely welcoming. They are the best Outsite staff that I’ve encountered and are helpful and professional. Many are very experienced as they’ve been in hospitality for multiple years. They understand the nuances of Marrakech for new travelers, and make you feel at home, comfortable, and safe at their space.

The coliving and cowork space

A beautiful rooftop, simple but function coworking space, and good wifi through all its common areas, the facilities are quality, especially in comparison to what how homestays may vary with other accommodations in Marrakech. No experience in Marrakech would be complete without a stay in a riad, a home of traditional Moroccan architecture. This Outsite is four riads combined into one, which makes for a spacious experience in a beautiful space.

The location and its tranquility

If you’re looking to explore Marakech’s Medina, this coliving space is right in the heart of it. Luckily, it’s tucked away on a quiet side street. You don’t hear any motorbikes or chaos, which I was astonished by based on all the busy souks and streets in the Medina that surround the Outsite.

The people it attracks

Marrakech is not the first destination digital nomads consider. It is loud, obtrusive, and can, in a good way, give foreigners more culture shock than the typical nomad destinations like Bai and Lisbon that provide all the modern comforts for first time nomads. For this reason, the remote workers and digital nomads Marrakech attracts are generally more adventurous, less needy of modern conveniences, and overall, down to earth and very welcoming. It was one of the best group of folks I’ve met at a coliving space.

Cons of Marrakech Outsite

The location as a con

I listed it as a pro, but the con is that Outsite Marrakech is in a touristy area, so acess to more common everyday shops or amenities you may need like pharmacies or a more general supermarket are tough. It’s a 35min walk to a modern grocery store one way, so consider using the Glovo delivery app (moroccan sim required) if you need supermarket deliveries. You can get fruits and vegetables though within the Medina.

You can sometimes feel a bit “stuck” as the Outsite since it is in the heart of the touristy Medina. Marrakech is not known for peaceful parks, so being in the heart of it makes it hard to do things like go on a run, peaceful walk, or just get some fresh air. The rooftop though does a great job at meeting some of these needs.

The rooms differ a bit

As an fyi, not all the rooms are the same, which is part of the beauty of this space. Some are a bit bigger, some are smaller, some with more light, some with less. Overall they are all adequate (some nicer than others), but I did hear that a couple rooms had some weaker internet. Nothing that’s a deal breaker, but something to note.

In conclusion

Overall, I loved my stay here. Working from Marrakech isn’t for everyone. There are prayers five times a day, but I found them peaceful and relaxing and allows folks who choose to stay a chance to view and experience life in a Muslim country. For those looking for a comfortable place to work while the chance to explore Marrakech and Morocco, I highly recommend Outsite Mararkech.
